The returning California-based Sound And Fury Festival has dropped the first announcement for its 2016 edition. Taking place on June 10th and 11th at the Regent Theater in Los Angeles, California, the festival’s announced lineup so far can be read above. Weekend passes in varying editions (weekend pass only/with aftershow tickets/with aftershow tickets and festival t-shirt) are currently on sale here along with lodging, dining and other fest related information. The second lineup announcement will come a month from now, on February 29th.
Ambient desert rock outfit Zun – which comprises Gary Arce (Yawning Man), Sera Timms (Ides of Gemini) and John Garcia (Kyuss, etc) – have announced the release of their new full-length record, Burial Sunrise. The record, which was recorded by drummer Harper Hug and mastered by Chris Goosman (Acid King, etc), will be released on March 25 via Small Stone Recordings. The record will see Arce, Timms and Garcia joined by drummers Bill Stinson (Yawning Man) and the aforementioned Harper Hug, and will also feature bass contributions from Mario Lalli (Yawning Man) and electric sitar from Robby Krieger (The Doors). New York avant-garde tech death outfit, Geryon – featuring Krallice bassist/vocalist Nicholas McMaster and drummer Lev Weinstein – have announced the release of their sophomore full-length record. The record will bear the title The Wound and The Bow and will be released on April 8 via Profound Lore Records. The album was recorded with Colin Marston (Krallice, Dysrhythmia, etc) and will feature guest electronic music contributions from the likes of Jim Mroz (Lussuria), Nick Podgurski (New Firmament, Feast of the Epiphany), and Chris Latina (Private Archive, Article Collection), as well as Marston. Chicagoan post-metal trio, Snow Burial, have premiered a new track from their upcoming album, Victory in Ruin, at New Noise. Titled “Hellscape”, the new track churns out a corrosive mix of post-metal and math rock tendencies. Spiraling guitar acrobatics and scraping bass lines bleed into mangled sludge and other sonic realms during this short, multifaceted tune. Check out the track here.

Belgian post-metal/doom outfit Hemelbestormer have unleashed a new track/video from their upcoming record, Aether, which is due out on February 19 Debemur Morti Productions. Titled “After Us, The Flood”, the new leviathan of a track features over 15 minutes of brooding, monolithic heaviness, and introspective and gloomy atmospheres. Titled “Vivian Girls”, the new track shows the Vancouver quartet dishing out hazy-eyed, Sabbathian grooves and ludicrously catchy hooks. Check out the fuzzy anthem at this location.

Chicago death dealers Like Rats (Weekend Nachos, etc) have announced the release of their sophomore full-length, and follow-up to their 2012’s self-titled debut. The record will simply be titled II and will see a release through Southern Lord Records on March 25. The album was recorded with Andy Nelson (Dead in the Dirt, etc) and will feature eight new tracks, with the CD-version of the album also compiling the rest of the band’s recorded material to date. UXO (Unsane, Today Is the Day) have premiered a new track from their upcoming self-titled record at Noisey. The new track, titled “This Won’t Take Long”, is full of bruising noise rock goodness. Unsurprisingly reminiscent of Unsane, the track churns out abrasive, metallic clanging riffs at a steady but calamitous pace. Check it out at this location now.
