Japanese innovators Boris and Merzbow have premiered new tracks from their upcoming collaborative album, Gensho, at Rolling Stone. Gensho is a unique release that will feature over 150 minutes of new music. Boris‘ contributions are reworkings of classic tracks from the band’s back catalog, while Merzbow‘s tracks are new compositions. Though they can be played separately, both discs are intended to be played at the same time at varying volumes so that the listener may experience their own “gensho/phenomenon”. The new tracks in question are a reworking of Boris‘ “Heavy Rain”, which originally appeared on their Noise LP, and a new Merzbow cut titled “Goloka Pt. 2”. Check out both tracks after the break and play them at the same time, adjusting the volumes for each for the desired effect.
Gensho will be released on March 18 via Relapse Records. Pre-order here.
