Avant-garde heavyweights Kayo Dot have announced the release of their new full-length album and follow-up to 2014’s critically-lauded Coffins on Io. The new record will be titled Plastic House on Base of Sky and will see a release through The Flenser on June 24. The record will feature five new tracks and will span the length of 40 minutes. According to a press release, the album “fully embraces Coffins on Io’s electronic allusions, incorporating a variety of synthesizers (many of them vintage analog) to create another work of ambition and magnitude that fuses the explosive musical imagination of a band like Magma with the forward-thinking experimentalism of Conrad Schnitzler or Morton Subotnick.”

Quebec’s technical death metal legends Gorguts have teamed up with Guitar World to premiere a new excerpt from their upcoming EP, Pleiades’ Dust, which is comprised of several movements in a single 33-minute track. French post-hardcore/screamo outfit PAST have released the title track to their forthcoming album, Cliffhanger, which will be released later this month. “Cliffhanger” storms out of the gate with shimmering guitar melodies, thunderous bass lines and concussive drumming that, when combine with the emotionally-charged vocals, makes for an emotive experience. The track cycles back and forth between these icy verses and blistering, hyperspeed chaos throughout this punishing yet lyrically positive tune. Check it out after the break.

Portuguese riff worshipers Miss Lava have premiered the official video for their track “In the Arms of the Freaks” over at Revolver. The groove-heavy, fuzzy headbanger, which comes from the group’s forthcoming Sonic Debris LP, is set to a trippy animated clip created by Perfectly Random Studios. Bogdan Dumitriu of Perfectly Random Studios commented:
“We used the inspiration that the song gave us and tried to make a psychedelic trip. It starts simple and then becomes more colorful and destructive”
Vocalist Johnny Lee adds:
“This song deals with fighting your own personal freak show…staging and dealing with your own aberrations can be a messy trip most of the times.”

Californian atmospheric tech metal outfit WRVTH have released the official video for their track “Larkspur” via Blank TV.
