Floridian metalcore/metallic hardcore outfit Forty Winters have announced the release of their sophomore full-length record. The new effort will be titled Rotting Empire and will be released on July 22 via Dead Truth Recordings. The eight-track offering was recorded by Jesse Kirkbride (Black Tongue, Aversions Crown, Enterprise Earth) at Kirkbride Recordings in Cape Coral, Florida, and features special guest appearances by Chad Ruhlig (For the Fallen Dreams) and Adam Warren (Oceano). Vocalist Xavier Vicuna comments:
“Welcome to the year of Rot! With each release we got more comfortable in our own skin and more willing to take chances, which leads us to Rotting Empire. You can expect the signature FW sound with more of a modern approach, better song structure, as well as more grit and tenacity. It’s pissed, and it’s real. Some unexpected and unplanned touring pushed the release back quite a bit, but we were able to play new songs and hype the impending album so it was well worth it. We always had a vision for our sophomore album, this is it.”
The album’s artwork and track listing can be found after the break, along with a stream/lyric video of its opening track, “Summoning Spirits” (via Lambgoat)
Though Lake of Violet is a new name within the experimental/heavy/”difficult” music communities, those involved with the project are no strangers to making forward-thinking tunes. Comprised of musicians who have spent time with the likes of Locrian, Minsk, Kwaidan and more, Lake of Violet presents a new side to these songwriters seldom seen before. The quartet craft these massive, dense and free-flowing compositions that touch upon elements of post-rock and progressive rock, but are too unique to be pigeonholed into one genre or another. Svbterranean recently caught up with guitarist André Foisey and guitarist/vocalist/synth master Neil Jendon to talk about their debut release, The Startling Testimony of Plumb Lines, its construction and other topics
