It’s been about nine years since Novembre released their last full-length album, The Blue. A series of lineup changes, which included the departure of longtime drummer Giuseppe Orlando, hindered the long-running Italian band’s progress. But founding member and writer Carmelo Orlando and longtime guitarist Massimiliano Pagliuso used this downtime to revamp their lineup and return to Novembre fresh. The result of this revitalization is URSA – a 60-minute journey through tranquil landscapes crafted by the melding between doom, melodic death metal and Gothic sensibilities.

Death metal legends Obituary have announced the release of a new live album. Titled Ten Thousand Way to Die (artwork above), the new release features 12 classic tracks and fan favorites recorded in 11 different cities during the band’s 2015 world tour, as well as two new studio tracks. One of the aforementioned new tracks, “Loathe”, can be streamed after the break. The band commented on the upcoming release:
“We are very excited about the live songs that we recorded on this last US Tour. Joe Cincotta from Full Force Studio is also our live sound engineer and he had his full recording rig on the road with us so we took advantage of the opportunity and recorded the show every night. The quality was amazing so we decided to include this as part of the Ten Thousand Ways to Die release to give the fans a little Ob bonus! We selected songs from different cities so you will hear the sound difference between each song. Nothing was done to the songs after the live performance recording so it gives you the real, true, unedited “live show” sound and feeling that the fans experienced at each show.”
The album’s track listing can be found after the break, along with the band’s fall European tour.
Ten Thousand Ways to Die will be released on October 21 via Relapse Records. Pre-order here.

Canadian metallic hardcore outfit Exalt have premiered a new track from their forthcoming album, The Shape You Took Before the Ache, over at New Noise. The new track is titled “Worship” and it sees the band combining their fierce metallic hardcore grittiness with catchy, almost alternative metal style groove. Frontman Tyler Brand says of the track:
“‘Worship’ was a new venture for us as a band. It was a song less focused on being heavy, being aggressive, but more so it was a song focused on being a song, in a classic structural sense. We tried to utilize what we had as band to do something a bit uncomfortable and different for us.”

Guitarist Ben Cooper issued the following comments regarding the forthcoming release:
“These four songs are what we feel represents the next step in the new direction of Kaliya that began with our last (self titled) full length. We really wanted to cut out any possible elements of filler and go straight to the core of what we are doing. There is a variety of parts / songs on the EP but to us they are all Kaliya. Our guitar player Thomas Booe was the audio engineer on the album and the mixing and mastering process was handled by William Blackmon of Gadget.”
