The Unlearning Curve offers up 9 tracks of sophisticated psychedelia, equal parts Blackstar era Bowie and Rubber Soul period Beatles.
Album centerpiece Our Time Is Now ebbs and flows with a cryptic pulse. An undeniable psychedelic pastiche, complete with flourishes of electronic glitches, and cascading wall of sound vocals. Through the Gates is a lilting, funeral march. Vocalist Steve Moore’s delivery of “I’m nobody. Who are you?” highlights the dark whimsy of Post Death Soundtrack. The theme of mortality and the unknown infinite frequently reoccurs across the running time of The Unlearning Curve. These heady and well executed ideas share an affinity with the sophisticated art rock of recent era David Bowie. Transform in White Light impresses with it’s ability to channel Tears for Fears and Portishead. Post Death Soundtrack utilize their unique sonic hybrid to great effect.
Twin Peak’s esque keyboards and synth commence album standout Dance With The Devil. The band glide along an astral plane of sonic splendor. Post Death Soundtrack are more than capable of juxtaposing eerie sounds with serene beauty on The Unlearning Curve.
