Born in Istanbul, Turkey but now currently residing in NJ, USA, BURAK OZMUCUR’s birth name doubles as the moniker for his creative and sonic output. A Distant Light is his 6th release overall and things certainly feel and sound like a realized progression from his beginnings in 2010.
The four song ep prominently features polished vocals which intervolve against a surging, moderately gothic influenced blanket of sound. BURAK OZMUCUR supplicates a broad mixture of KATATONIA meets OCEANSIZE esque melodicisms. There seems to be an understated attention to detail which permeates throughout the aural proceedings which make up A Distant Light.

Chicagoan doomsayers Cokegoat recently premiered a new track from their forthcoming album, Drugs and Animals, at Decibel. Titled “Winter of Fear”, the new track unleashes psychedelic atmospherics that bleed into towering doom, and further into galloping death. Check out the trippy and heavy tune after the break.
