St. Petersburg, FL instrumental post-rock band Set and Setting are releasing their third full-length album, Reflectionless, next week (January 27). But before they do, they’ve premiered another track off the record, called “…The Idyllic Realm,” via Decibel. Starting off slow, the eight-minute track builds up with quicker tempos and heavy rhythms, which are layered with gorgeous, soaring melodies. Check it out after the break.
Guitarist Shane Handal tells Decibel:
“We have always set out to write heavy, dark songs but with a melody that counteracts it. The last few minutes of ‘…The Idyllic Realm’ were written to counteract the long trudging of the beginning. A sort of uplifting and peaceful ending to a long dark beginning.”
Reflectionless features Pink Floyd-inspired cover art by Samantha Muljat (Earth, Pelican) and is being self-released on January 27. Set and Setting also teamed up with AWAL (Kobalt) for the digital release, as well as Science Of Silence Records (US) and Dunk!records (EU) for exclusive color vinyl options in addition to its regular vinyl pressing. Pre-orders are available here.
