Cult UK sludge outfit Iron Monkey have announced that they have signed with Relapse Records for the release of their first album since 1998’s Our Problem. The band has entered Moot Group Studios in Nottingham with Johnny A. Carter (ex-Pitchshifter). The as-of-yet titled record will feature eight new songs plus a cover track and is expected to be release in the summer/early fall. The band is now comprised of founding members S. Watson (bass) and J. Rushby (guitar/vocals), and are rounded out by new member S. Briggs (Chaos U.K.) who also played in My War with late Iron Monkey vocalist J.P. Morrow.
The band said the following regarding the upcoming release:
“We’re older, more cynical, more isolationist. Musically, we’re more aggressive, more focused – a direct assault. We intend to take what is rightfully ours, usurp the scene, then crush its skull.”
Stay tuned for more details.
