San Antonio blackened hardcore band Illustrations have premiered their new track “The Killing Field” via Revolver. The tune is off of the band’s upcoming sophomore full-length, Acts of God, which was recorded by four engineers in four locations: Chuck Macak at Electrowerks Recoding in Chicago, Aaron Bastinelli at Big Orange Recordings in Austin, Justin Douglas at Shine Studios in Austin, and Illustrations guitarist Nicodemus Gonzalez at Public Profile in San Antonio. Check out “The Killing Field” after the break.
Frontman Matt King comments about the track:
“‘The Killing Field’ is a song about the masochistic acceptance of eternal suffering and embracing the pain that comes with existence. Living with nostalgia and regret can become torturous. Any form of escape, such as the idea of a higher power, becomes difficult to grasp onto, creating internal aggression and hopelessness. We lose faith in ‘God,’ the government, humanity and everything in between, but finding faith in ourselves is what allows us to move past the negativity and manifest change in our world.”
Acts of God is out May 26.
