New Brunswick innovative noise/grind trio Anthesis are set to release their new album, titled The Age of Self, this June. The LP follows several EP and split releases, and marks their first full-length in over seven years, since 2010’s Surface and the Sky.
In anticipation of the new release, the band are offering up a taste of the album right here on Svbterranean, with the punishing track “Empty Vessels.” The song comprises nearly four minutes of abrasive sludgy noise, featuring doom-laden rhythms and dissonant angular guitars, combined in an unorthodox structure and layered with harsh vocals and an overwhelmingly bleak atmosphere. Check it out after the break.
