It’s often that when a powerviolence band strings together a dozen tracks for an EP that it can feel rushed and non-sequential. This is most definitely not the case for Raleigh, North Carolina’s newest heavy hitters Oxidant. Featuring members of NoComply, Supressive Fire and Gas Chamber, there is no doubt that Oxidant would deliver the goods. The band offers an audio assault with their twelve tracks of unrelenting grind. True to the genres punk roots, there are no frills or bullshit, just savage, ravaging power. Continue Reading
Tech death weirdos Pyrrhon will unleash their ferocious new album What Passes For Survival in August and the band have just premiered a new track from said album titled “Tennessee.” This is, I believe, the second track from the album that the band has unearthed for us and I think it’s one of my personal favorite Pyrrhon tracks I’ve ever heard. It’s nasty, vicious and not of this world. So, it’s great. You can check out the track for yourself over on Metal Injection. So, what are you waiting for?
Blackened progressive death metal act Cormorant will unleash their new album Diaspora in August and the band has just unloaded a massive new track titled “Preserved In Ash.” Now, I will admit that this band didn’t really tickle my fancy when I first heard them years ago, but I can say that this new track has piqued my interest and I am now looking forward to Diaspora. Should be fun. Check out the track, that premiered on Decibel, below. Continue Reading
Brooklyn noise rockers Couch Slut have premiered a new track from their upcoming sophomore album, Contempt, via NPR. Titled “Company Picnic with Dust Off”, the nearly five-minute track crawls forth with sludgy, abrasive and brooding noise rock stylings that will excite any fan of Amphetamine Reptile’s catalog, or just intensely heavy tunes in general. Check out the single after the break.
Contempt will be released on July 28 via Gilead Media. Pre-order here.
Brutal death metal and slam is nothing to take seriously and some times it’s best not to even mind what the album art or title are trying to portray. In this case, it’s a band called Fetal Disgorge, releasing an album called “Mass Female Degradation” (TRIGGERED) and the artwork itself (by Mottla Art) is incredibly grotesque and ultra offensive. Just the way slam should be.
Post-hardcore outfit Less Art (Kowloon Walled City, Thrice, Curl Up and Die) have premiered a new track from their upcoming debut, Strangled Light, via Brooklyn Vegan. Titled “Wandering Ghost”, the five-minute slow-burner features sprawling, angular instrumentation that sounds like what would happen if sister band Kowloon Walled City covered Slint‘s Spiderland. Check out the track after the break.
Strangled Light will be released on July 28 via Gilead Media. Pre-order here.
