Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada’s HERON have unveiled the 2nd single from their forthcoming debut A Low Winter’s Sun. We here at Svbterranean have the exclusive premiere of the punishingly heavy track “Uncomfortable Silence.” The record was produced by Jesse Gander at Rain City Records. Gander has worked with a “who’s who” of Vancouver bands including but not limited to 3 Inches of Blood, Baptists, Anciients, Japandroids, Dead Quiet, Fond of Tigers, and Bison. HERON has ascended to the ranks of one of the Pacific North West’s premier heavy bands via multiple tours and a skull-crushingly heavy live show.
Choosing not to have a bassist, Guitarist’s Ross Redeker and Scott Bartlett more than cover the low end with enormous riffs which are equal parts atmospheric and crushing. Vocalist Jamie Stilborn bolsters the wall of sound with soundbites/samples and a scream that is capable of peeling paint. Drummer Bina Mendozza (also of Vancouver island stoner/doom mainstays Mendozza) holds down the rhythm with calculated and nuanced playing. A Low Winter’s Sun is set to be released April 13th whereupon HERON will support the release with shows alongside the likes of Primitive Man, The Atlas Moth, Dopethrone, and Mustard Gas and Roses. ***EDIT Congrats to HERON for signing to SLUDGELORD RECORDS
