Monsterworks is a metal act from London, UK that offers a wide array of sounds from within the genre. They have an old school rock/metal sound, especially in their vocals and the new album “Scale and Probability” gives us 6 new grooving tracks to enjoy. I’ve never heard of this band before but they did a good job keeping me interested.
Monsterworks best feature is their song writing, do not expect anything award winning or brutal as it’s not that and you will appreciate the music coming from the band. Their style is old school rock meets progressive music, with a dash of metal. Scale and Probability is a truly enjoyable album if you can get into the vocals, which are easily the albums weakest point. The vocals are average at best and the inconsistency in them sometimes flows with the music and matches up nicely but most of the time it’s aggressively unneeded, especially the AC/DC knock off sections.
Seriously though, this band would benefit from just being instrumental, or at least this album anyways. The band is very active, releasing new stuff almost on a yearly basis. So if you enjoy this album, you have a ton of albums to get into by Monsterworks. If you dig what Crowbar does, as it’s the only band that sounds somewhat similar to Monsterworks, then you may dig what these cats are doing here.
