Mixed, Not Stirred is a weekly column in which artists curate special, themed playlists via Spotify or other mediums.
In this week’s Mixed, Not Stirred, experimental noise rockers Qoheleth have created a playlist for the revolution, featuring tunes from the likes of Rage Against the Machine, Cows, Birds in Row, and more. The band said the following of the playlist:
“Defiance and hope in the face of all odds are such weird ideals to cling to in the midst of dark times. Yet for us in QOHELETH, these are the things at the center of what we think music is capable of inspiring within our hearts and souls. Humanity at large has weathered some very bleak nights and made it through on the other side of the dawn. While we’ve known that most of the evils of our country’s history have never truly been dealt with on national scale, the ease and arrogance with which xenophobia, racism, misogyny, and other forms of prejudice have been sauntering around in the daylight over the past few years feels almost overwhelming. But all is not lost. There are good people fighting the good fight every day. We need each other in these times. The songs on this playlist are meant to keep that fire lit. Get pissed and stay angry. Fight for the voiceless and the disenfranchised. Love one another and take time to listen and learn.”
