Ahh 2005, you were such a seminal year in my life of music. My supposed senior year in college (I ended up taking another semester and a winter semester to get a dual major, and another semester of required undergrad to take and receive my masters) and it is also the year I expanded my music. You see, there were these things called record stores ( a store that sold music, in various formats such as cassettes and CD’s) and I was looking about when I noticed a CD. It was black…very black with picture of a goat-man, gray in color and stark, cold, bleak. I had to see who and what it was.

Straight edge vegan hardcore supergroup Sect – which comprises musicians who have spent time with the likes of Cursed, Burning Love, Earth Crisis, Catharsis and Fall Out Boy – have premiered three new track from their upcoming self-titled album at Noisey. Comprised of Chris Colohan (Cursed, Burning Love), James Chang (Catharsis), Scott Crouse (Earth Crisis), Ian Edwards (Earth Crisis) and Andrew Hurley (Fall Out Boy), Sect purvey a moody and dark metallic hardcore style that is undoubtedly crushing.
The album was recorded at Roost Frequency by Wes Gillespie, mixed/produced by Scott Crouse and James Chang, and mastered by Alan Douches. The record self-released in North America (distributed by Deathwish) on August 5, and available worldwide from a variety of labels: Reflections in Europe, Alliance Trax in Japan, Caustic in Brazil, and Cactus in Malaysia.
