“Love is a disgusting thing.” This line, repeated over and over again throughout “Hyperventilationsystem,” is one of the most affecting moments on a record for me. And it’s not just the words – as callous as they might be (and truer than I care to admit) – but also the way vocalist Alexis Marshall unravels as he sings/howls them each time, combined with the piercing guitars hysterically spazzing out beneath, that give the sentiment even more of a soul-crushing impact. It embraces that anxiety-ridden feeling that’s at the center of any good mathcore, which extends beyond this track and throughout the entire 23 spellbinding minutes of Hell Songs – the 2006 album from Providence, Rhode Island’s Daughters.

Providence powerviolence outfit Fucking Invincible
) have announced the release of a new split 7″ EP with Netherlands-based hardcore outfit Lifespite
(Left for Dead
, Blind to Faith
). The release is due out on October 7 via Atomic Action! Records, with audio samples and artwork to be released in the coming weeks.
Fucking Invincible have also announced a new West Coast U.S. tour with Los Angeles-based hardcore outfit Deadbeat (Despise You). Those dates can be found below.
Virginian record label Robotic Empire have announced the release of yet another Nirvana tribute album. Titled Doused in Mud, Soaked in Bleach, the new record will pay tribute to the band’s first full-length record, Bleach. The album will feature covers by the likes of Thou, Defeater, This Will Destroy You, Daughters and more. The album’s track listing can be found after the break along with Circa Survive‘s cover of “Love Buzz”.
Doused in Mud, Soaked in Bleach will be released on April 16.
