With Heiress, it’s all about progression. From their first EP to their 2015 LP, Of Great Sorrow, this Seattle band never ceases to reinvent themselves. Their metallic hardcore roots shone brightly on their self-titled EP, but as time went by, that hardcore sound began to be interlaced with elements of sludge, post-metal, post-rock and more. Each subsequent release by the band has been more forward-thinking and multi-faceted than the last, with Of Great Sorrow being the pinnacle of the band’s sonic evolution. Well, at the time it was. Not even a year later, Heiress return with Made Wrong, their true magnum opus. The record is expansive, destructive, cathartic and crushing. It’s everything that Heiress has offered over the years delivered in an epic, sprawling package. Svbterranean briefly sat down with vocalist and scene veteran, John Pettibone, to discuss his thoughts on the record, the band and his acting career.
