The Body – No One Deserves Happiness
With the release of I Shall Die Here and their slew of recent collaborations, The Body has somehow gotten even more experimental with their already experimental style of noise/metal/whatever by straying into catchier, even poppier territory. The interesting combination of noisy, yet highly structured songwriting as well as frequent collaborator Chrissy Wolpert’s sung vocals mixing with Chip King’s signature distorted howls in the background reinforces that feeling of genres intermingling, but also creates something new and original.
British extreme metal legends Carcass have announced their headlining North American tour this November, backed by shoegaze black metal masters Deafheaven and experimental doom mongers Inter Arma. Running from November 7 to 27, Carcass continues to tour in support of their latest album, 2013’s Surgical Steel. See the dates after the break.
Virginian exploratory sludge outfit Inter Arma have premiered the title track from their forthcoming album, Paradise Gallows, over at Stereogum. The quintet embark on quite the sonic journey with this nearly 12-minute opus. The first three minutes of “The Paradise Gallows” consists of slow-burning, ethereal melodies that build up to a cataclysmic, melancholic procession of doom. Stream the track after the break.
Paradise Gallows will be released on July 8 via Relapse Records.

Virginia’s Inter Arma have announced the release of their sophomore full-length album and follow-up to 2013’s critically-acclaimed Sky Burial LP and 2014’s The Cavern EP. The new record will be titled Paradise Gallows and will be released on July 8 via Relapse Records. The album’s artwork and track listing can be found after the break.
