Burlington Vermont has always had a strong and unique heavy music scene for a city on the smallish side. There’s lots of craft beer and a long winters to get the creative juices flowing maybe. A couple of years ago I found myself in that neck of the woods watching a really excellent band called Writhe destroy the stage at the infamous Nectar’s Metal Monday (which, if you ever have a chance to get there, do it, free admission and awesome poutine). Writhe pounded out jams with this awesome Coalesce meets Knut sonic assault that just mesmerized me. Fast forward a bit and Writhe, unfortunately appears to be no more. Portland heavy rockers Red Fang have announced a new string of U.S. tour dates in support of their forthcoming album, Only Ghosts, which is due out on October 14 via Relapse Records. The tour is set to kick off on November 18 in San Francisco and will come to a close on December 16 in Seattle. Torche and Whores. will provide support on all stops of the U.S. trek. The band’s entire touring schedule, including the aforementioned U.S. dates and European dates, can be found below.

Portland rockers Red Fang have announced the release of their fourth full-length album and follow-up to 2013’s Whales and Leeches. The new record will be titled Only Ghosts and will be released on October 14 via Relapse Records. The album was produced by famed producer Ross Robinson and was mixed by Joe Baressi (Tool, etc). Said the band of the album:
“Working with Ross and Joe on this record was a huge leap forward for us,…The process was very challenging and rewarding, and I think we’re a better band for it. This album expresses exactly where we’re at. We’re super proud of it and can’t wait for people to hear it!”

Portland sludge rockers Red Fang have announced that they will return to the studio in February to record their fourth full-length album, the follow-up to 2013’s Whales and Leeches, with famed producer Ross Robinson. Drummer John Sherman comments:
“I’ve never been more excited about making a record in my life,…The writing process for this album has been super fun and full of energy and good vibes. And the opportunity to work with Ross Robinson is so crazy – I’ve got goose bumps just talking about it!!”
The band will be playing the following two shows while en route to Robinson’s studio in Venice, California:
