As with every other music blog or publication, we at Svbterranean are obligated to give you our silly opinions on what were the top albums of the year. I could list every single release I enjoyed this year, but I am limited on patience and writing ability. So, I was able to narrow it down to a modest 30. These are records that, not limited to just metal and hardcore either, that stuck with me long after the initial listen. Feel free to peruse the list below and tell me how my opinion is bullshit, because I will probably agree with you.
Norwegian avant-rockers Virus have premiered their forthcoming full-length, Memento Collider, at Noisey. The record is officially due out this Friday, June 3, via Karisma Records. Pre-orders can be placed at this location. The record is a delightfully strange tour de force full of nauseating, off-kilter rhythms, dissonant melodies and a general sense of uneasiness. Check it out now.
Norwegian avant-garde rockers Virus have premiered the official video to their track, “Rogue Fossil”, at Stereogum. The nauseating, dissonant and angular tune, which comes from the group’s upcoming Memento Collider LP, is set to an equally elaborate and odd animated clip. Costin Chioreanu, creator of the video, had the following to say:
“I went beyond all my boundaries and I have a feeling I touched a bit of insanity. You know that it’s going to be something unique.”
Check out the clip after the break.
Memento Collider will be released on June 3 via Karisma Records. Pre-order here.
Norwegian avant-garde rock outfit Virus have premiered a new track from their forthcoming fourth full-length recording, Memento Collider, at Decibel. The new track is the nearly eight-minute “Steamer” and it is quite the dizzying experience. Melodically dissonant guitar riffs writhe across this sprawling, doomed number, and are propelled by hypnotically droning vocals. Check out the track after the break.
Memento Collider will be released on June 3.
