As with every other music blog or publication, we at Svbterranean are obligated to give you our silly opinions on what were the top albums of the year. I could list every single release I enjoyed this year, but I am limited on patience and writing ability. So, I was able to narrow it down to a modest 30. These are records that, not limited to just metal and hardcore either, that stuck with me long after the initial listen. Feel free to peruse the list below and tell me how my opinion is bullshit, because I will probably agree with you.
Chinese post-rock experimenters Wang Wen have premiered their forthcoming album, Sweet Home, Go!, at Scene Point Blank. The record will officially be released this Friday, October 7 via Pelagic Records and can be purchased here. The lengthy opus explores avenues other post-rock records do not, really pushing the boundaries of the genre with surprising twists and turns and unorthodox instrumentation. Chinese post-rock collective Wang Wen have premiered the title track to their forthcoming ninth studio album, Sweet Home, Go!, at Ghost Cult Mag. The sprawling 14-minute composition features minimal, melancholic post-rock guitar melodies that are enshrouded in heavy layers of interstellar ambiance, and are further accompanied by a wide array of instrumentation and electronic sound effects. Chinese experimental post-rock collective Wang Wen have premiered a new track from their upcoming album, Sweet Home, Go!, at New Noise. Titled “Red Wall and Black Wall”, the new track unleashes eight-minutes of massive guitar riffs, luscious string arrangements, and a myriad of instrumentation and ethereal atmospheres. Chinese experimental post-rock outfit Wang Wen have announced the release of their ninth studio album. The new record will bear the title Sweet Home, Go! and will be released through Pelagic Records on September 30 (Europe), followed by a U.S. date on October 28. The record was reportedly written over the past three years and was completed in early January with producers Wouter and Lode Vlaminck.
